W Airport Lounge

One of the perks of staying at the W Resort is access to their Airport Lounge if you fly into Vieques Airport (VQS).

When you land, you depart the plane and walk across the tarmac into the main terminal. There's not much in the VQS terminal except a set of chairs, a few posters on the wall, the baggage claim belt and a security guard at the exit. Once they unload your bags, you take them and walk outside.

Immediately to your left, you will see the W Arrivals Lounge. Compared to the sparsely decorated terminal, the lounge has a lot more color and style, in standard W fashion. There was plenty of seating for us and the 2 other people in the lounge.

When you walk in, you're welcomed by the friendly desk agent who will take your name and reservation information (more to confirm you're allowed to be there as opposed to checking you in). She then proceeded to offer us a cold towel to refresh ourselves after the stuffy 10 minute plane ride.

They also have a series of magazines and games for you to keep you entertained while you wait five minutes for the complimentary hotel shuttle.

In addition to the cold towel, perfectly cooling A/C and comfortable seating, there's a small kitchen area where you can help yourself to complimentary fruit and drinks, including a mystery rum-infused fruit juice. It's not the highlight of your W Lounge experience, but it's better than nothing.

I, however, liked the free lotion sample that made your skin smell like coconuts. As you longtime LCD readers know, I really really love coconuts.

But we didn't get to spend too much time in the W Airport Lounge because before we knew it, the hotel shuttle had arrived and our bags were being loaded. Just then, passengers from another flight (probably from San Juan) started walking out of the main terminal and jumped right on board the shuttle. And we were on our way (for 4 minutes since the W Vieques is close enough to walk to the airport).
